Daffodil Day “yellow raffle”

The Spinning, Weaving and Knitting group’s annual “Yellow Raffle” raised $120 for the Cancer Society’s Daffodil Day Appeal on Wednesday 26 August.

The group has a Daffodil Day fundraiser in the Kāpiti Arts and Crafts workrooms each year and Pottery Group members from ‘next door’ in the pottery room join in, too. Raffle tickets are 50 cents each, and some people make a donation as well.

This year, yellow goods covered a worktable with flowers—daffodils, of course, and other blooms—hand-dyed wool, yellow duck and mesh sponges, soup, biscuits and potato chips in yellow packets, a picture frame, rain cape, measuring tape, and a package of scented soap donated by Trudi of Jenoa Clothing Shop in Waikanae. And inevitably, at this time of year, enough grapefruit and lemons to fill a large basket!
